CITY CENTER MURALS
San Ramon, CA
This is the story of how the City Center Mural project at Bishop Ranch came to happen
About 2 years ago i was making time lapse doodles for self entertainment purposes and sharing them on IG and FB
I had posted a half a dozen and people were enjoying them and commenting
They were experimental doodles where i folded the paper and made more or less random marks with ink and created unknown compositions as I unfolded the paper
Michael Vanderbyl was enjoying them and gave me the confidence to continue down this path for awhile
He had commented that he thought they would make great textile patterns
Not long after that he contacted me and said that he loved the IBM MURAL project and that he had a client who he thought would love my style
The Brief:
to create a series of rotating culture banners for Bishop Ranch’s City Center which was being redesigned by Renzo Piano
suggestive of shopping, musical performance, dining, a farmer’s market ‘A Modern Public Square’
20’ wide x 14’ tall
4 - 5 murals
Michael agreed and I went to the next stage to present what I thought would be good looking finals
Here are the 4 finals I created
here are a couple of shots showing you how they used the murals in multiple areas around the City Center
thanks so much for taking the time to check this out
